MAY 22nd 2020 - EARLHAM PARK, NORWICH
Friday Night Live have announced the special guests who will be appearing with headliners The Streets at the inaugural event on Friday May 22 at Earlham Park, Norwich. With a line-up that promises non-stop bangers, Friday Night Live Norwich is the perfect way to kick off your spring Bank Holiday weekend.
Brought to you by the team behind the successful Sunday Sessions and Let’s Rock festival series, Friday Night Live is a brilliant new outdoor music event for 2020. As Friday Night Live founders Nick Billinghurst & Matt Smith say, “Friday Night Live is intended to be an incredible evening of live music in the open air, and we’re thrilled to launch the event with such an exciting line-up. We’ll see you down the front!”
Mike Skinner, aka The Streets, is a native of Birmingham/Barnet in the UK - a rapper, producer, DJ, singer, writer, actor who happens to have made some of the most important British music of this millennium. His debut album “Original Pirate Material”, released in 2002 is widely regarded to have changed the face of British rap music, and his second album “A Grand Don’t Come For Free” was a huge worldwide success spawning hit singles like “Fit But You Know It” and “Dry Your Eyes”. After 5 albums and over 5 million record sales, Skinner quit The Streets and worked on other musical projects as well as reinventing himself as a successful DJ playing bass and grime. In 2018 Skinner revived The Streets with his phenomenal touring band (which also features Rob Harvey of The Music on guitar/vox) for a rapturously received tour that continued into 2019. In 2021 The Streets will release a new album and his debut feature film, both entitled “The Darker The Shadow The Brighter The Light”.
Chase & Status are one of the biggest draws in UK electronic music. Renowned for their incredible live set the London duo have released five acclaimed albums, collaborating with artists including Plan B, Kano, Tinie Tempah, and Tom Grennan for a string of huge singles which include “End Credits”, “Let You Go”, “Blind Faith”, “Alive” and “All Goes Wrong”.
South London MC Ms Banks performed with Little Mix at last years Brit Awards and performed the theme song for the BBC’s coverage of the 2019 Women’s World Cup, a female-focused reworking of the 2005 Fort Minor single “Remember the Name.” She has supported Cardi B and Wiley on tour and has collaborated with Stormzy and Tinie Tempah among others. Ms Banks also has her own fashion collection for Pretty Little Thing.
