MAKER are a REAL ROCK’N’ROLL BAND.
Hailing from Kent, Maker are a psychedelic bluesy punch, stirred with a fist full of soul, made up of band members Alessandro Marinelli (vocals), brothers Andrew Donaldson (guitar) & Gavin Donaldson (drums) plus John Austin (bass).
Renowned for their electrifying live performances, Louder Than War recently described the band as “rock’n’roll gold”’ the band's influences range from the early blues legends through the stomping pop & soul of the Sixties, to the raw power of early punk.
Coming on like the love child of The Rolling Stones, The Faces, Led Zeppelin, T-Rex & Primal Scream, Maker deliver a fresh sonic swagger defined by their own bluesy, boozy guitar riffs.
The band have headlined many of the UK’s most prestigious venues, earlier this year playing London’s legendary 100 Club as part of the ‘Best of British Blues Explosion’, also playing as special guests to some of the UKs finest artists (including heroes such as Wilko Johnson) as well as sharing festival bills with The Cribs, Dizzee Rascal, and Mark Ronson, to name a few.
Maker’s first two EPs were recorded at the famous Rockfield Studios, produced by the band themselves along with Nick Brine (Oasis, Stone Roses, Teenage Fanclub, Seasick Steve). The piano parts for the latest EP’s title track (and iTunes Top 20 hit), ‘Girl Quit Your Crying,’ were recorded on the very same ivories as the Oasis anthem 'Don’t Look Back In Anger'.
And in a further Oasis connection, drummer Gavin Donaldson previously managed Liam Gallagher’s flagship Carnaby Street Pretty Green clothing store.
In their short career thus far, Maker have already picked-up fans in one of the world’s most acclaimed guitarists Rich Robinson (The Black Crowes/Magpie Salute), as well as Simone Marie (Primal Scream) plus the late Virgil Howe (Little Barrie).
