SUNDAY SESSIONS NORWICH 2020 HEADLINED BY THE LIBERTINES
MAY 24th 2020 - EARLHAM PARK, NORWICH
“The Greatest Rock N Roll Story Of Our Generation” (NME)
Sunday Sessions will return to Earlham Park, Norwich for a third time on May 24th 2020, headlined by indie-rock legends The Libertines.
A one-day outdoor festival offering the very best in indie and alternative music, Sunday Sessions Norwich is the perfect Spring Bank Holiday Sunday for serious music lovers. Tickets are on-sale now.
Led by iconic frontmen Carl Barât and Peter Doherty, The Libertines burst onto the scene in the early 2000s and proceeded to change the face of British indie music with their potent mix of charisma, attitude, imagination, unpredictability and incredible tunes. Signing to Rough Trade on the strength of just one gig, they released their seminal (Mick Jones-produced) debut album ‘Up The Bracket’ in 2002, widely considered one of the best albums of the 2000s. Once again produced by The Clash legend Mick Jones, their second No.1 album ‘The Libertines’ followed in 2004.
The Libertines’ catalogue of brilliant singles – including ‘Can’t Stand Me Now’, ‘Don’t Look Back Into The Sun’, ‘What A Waster’, ‘Time For Heroes’, ‘Up The Bracket’ and ‘What Became Of The Likely Lads’ – sound as fresh and vital today as the day they were released. After disbanding at the end of 2004, The Libertines reformed in 2010, signing to Virgin EMI and releasing their critically acclaimed third album ‘Anthems For Doomed Youth’ in 2015.
Sunday Sessions founders Nick Billinghurst & Matt Smith commented, “We are absolutely thrilled to announce The Libertines as Sunday Sessions Norwich headliners for 2020. They follow the Kaiser Chiefs in 2018 and Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds last summer, and the fact that we are able to attract such iconic headliners is a testament to the incredible support we’ve received from Norwich gig-goers. We can’t wait to see you again next summer!”
Sunday Sessions is aimed at the whole family, with entertainment for everyone across the site. There are multiple bars and food options plus, of course, the all-important posh luxury loos. Children can enjoy free activities to keep them occupied, including circus workshops with the Bigtopmania Circus, face painting, crafts and a super funfair as well as children’s entertainers.
VIP tickets allow access to the VIP enclosure, where ticket holders can sit back and relax in the comfy chill out zone or enjoy the outdoor seating area. The VIP enclosure includes a full bar serving quality brands and cocktails, plus the VIP luxury loos. VIP tickets include entry to the festival, complimentary meal and drink.
